Ghelamco Poland presented initial conceptions of a project which is going to be realized at Grzybowski 12/16 Square. It will be a new headquarters of the Jewish Social and Cultural Association as well as the Jewish Theater. The building will be realized in place of the existing structure. The present building has been in use for nearly 50 years. Due to its exploitation rate, six years ago we made a decision to find a strategic investor who could help us to enhance the quality of space used for our statute purposes and adjust it to modern standards. Then we established cooperation with Ghelamco which advised us how to develop the plot in order the Jewish Theater and the Jewish Social and Cultural Association with related Jewish organizations could operate on it – Artur Hoffman, Chairman of the Member Board of the Jewish Social and Cultural Association in Poland, says.
Ghelamco Poland finalized purchase of a plot from the Jewish Social and Cultural Association in Poland at the end of October 2015. From that moment the company became the owner of the structure at Grzybowski Square. The building was not covered with the preservationist protection and it is not recorded in the Register of Monuments. The city of Warsaw agreed to demolish it after talks with the Minister of Cultural and National Heritage. Ghelamco Poland has already conducted compulsory building service and ordered lacking surveys in the area of fire security, technical condition and electrical installations in the part of the structure occupied by the Jewish Theater. According to conducted surveys, there is quite high fire risk and unacceptable technical condition as well as condition of installations. In result, Ghelamco Poland ordered the Theater to immediate shutdown of a business activity.
Works at final architectural project of this new building at Grzybowski Square are being conducted and Ghelamco Poland will apply for a decision concerning development conditions. The developer as the investor will totally cover the cost of building the new headquarters of the Jewish Social and Cultural Association as well as the Jewish Theater, which will amount to 63 million zlotys. There will be jointly 6500 sq. m within the investment.
