The City Council of Cracow adopted a resolution concerning setting up a company which will be responsible for realization of Łagniewnicka Route, that is the first out of many new passages of the third ring road of the city. This investment is to improve the traffic between districts of Cracow, especially in the western part of the capital of Little Poland (including decrease in traffic jams in Trzech Wieszczów Avenues). Łagiewnicka Route will be almost a four-kilometer-long passage from the loop in Kurdwanów to the junction Ruczaj (the neighborhood of Grota-Roweckiego Street). The value of the project will amount to more than 1.2 billion zlotys. The borough special-purpose company will be responsible for its realization. The profit from such a solution is a chance for quicker finishing of the task. The company will apply for financing from the European Union means (Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020), bank loan and means from Polish Development Investments SA – explains Tadeusz Trzmiel, Deputy President of Cracow. We would like to sign a contract with PIR by the end of June – pointed out Trzmiel.
The next stage will be announcement of a tender for a contractor of the investment who is going to realize the project in the „design and build” form. The city is obliged to file an application for the European Union means in order to realize a tram line.
While preparing detailed technical projects of Łagiewnicka Route, we will have an opportunity to look into some claims of inhabitants concerning the final form of this route – ensured Tadeusz Trzmiel. At present, we are carrying out consultations related to preparation of other passages of the third ring road, that is Zwierzyniecka and Pychowicka Routes – added Trzmiel.
The building of the third ring road of Cracow will contribute not only to improvement of inter-district traffic, but also lighten the city center and enhance the traffic congestion. While planning the communicational structure of Cracow, first and foremost we thought about the future. We base our activities on different studies and analyses which show how the traffic in the city as well as around Cracow will look like in the perspective of several hundred years – emphasized Tadeusz Trzmiel.
