Warbud will complete the International Convention Center in Katowice.

Warbud company has signed the contract concerning construction of the International Convention Center in Katowice.

Katowice city has signed the contract with Warbud Company, to complete the construction of multifunctional building of the International Convention Center in Katowice. The contract was signed on 29th of May 2013 by the chairman of Warbud’s board  Włodzimierz Włodarczyk and the member of the  board Grzegorz Chudzik and on behalf of the investor - Piotr Uszok, mayor of Katowice and deputy mayor Krystyna Siejna.

Warbud has won the bid to complete the construction, announced after the City Hall has broken off  the contract with the previous contractor Polimex-Mostostal. The contract was withdrawn due to delays in the schedule of construction works.

As part of the contract,  Warbud is supposed to accomplish construction of  building along with outdoor installations, the development of terrain, and the tunnel connecting Center with Spodek. Company Mercury Engineering Polska L.t.d. is responsible for accomplishment of sanitary installations.

The International Convention Center will be situated between Spodek and the headquarter of  PNRSO (Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra). The property is one of three buildings emerging at the former Katowice mine. ICC has the shape of a cuboid, with a green roof in the shape of the pass, that will aloud to get across the other side of the building. For the architectural design JEMS Architects will be responsible.

ICC contains a complex of meeting rooms, including a multifunctional hall for 12 000 people. Also a restaurant for 800 people, cafeteria, dining options and a VIP room will be there. The project includes two underground floors with technical rooms too.  Users will be able to use 95 parking spaces.

Construction will last from June 2013 until October 2014.
