The procedure of granting LEED certificate has been successively conducted in the first stage of investment by Vastint – Gdynia Waterfront. The first building of the project – hotel structure – received LEED Gold, whereas the second building – office – LEED Platinum. The list of pro-ecological solutions applied in the investment includes energy-saving ventilation system based on cooling bars which allows cooling without a necessity of launching cooling units (Free Cooling) during almost the whole year. Due to specific location of the project, we equipped the ventilation system with an additional installation of cooling by sea water (Sea Colling). Therefore, tenants may profit from cheap maintenance costs of space and certainty of high reliability of the system – explains Tomasz Okuszko, Project Manager, Vastint Poland. Another interesting solution is a function of returning energy (Clean Drive) present in the system of drive in elevators. This technology decreases the energy consumption by approx. 30 per cent and the power received by drives in elevators is directly transferred to the electric chain that powers the structures – adds Okuszko.
Moreover, roofing in both buildings is covered with greenery. The assets of green roofs are e.g. increase in aesthetical values of commercial buildings and contribution to elimination of the phenomenon called „heat island”.
Gdynia Waterfront is being realized between Sea Towers and Kościuszki Square on the waterfront of Basen Prezydenta in Gdynia. Two buildings with office and hotel function offering 20 000 sq. m of leased area were commissioned in June last year. The exclusive tenant of the office building is PKO BP, whereas the four-star hotel operates under the brand Marriott Courtyard. New stages of the investment are to be realized in the following years. As a target, the complex will deliver nearly 100 000 sq. m of office, hotel, residential, as well as commercial and service area. Cultural and relaxation functions will complete the project.
