The office block is going to be developed by PPUH Global Marek Nowara. The project of the 6-storey building originated in the Wrocław Department of Construction Management at the Polish Society of Civil Engineers and Technicians and it won the competition organized by the investor. The authors, Paweł Niedbalski and Krzysztof Masełkowski, were inspired by famous Wrocław landmarks such as “Renoma” or “Kameleon”. Their project was chosen over ca. 20 other contestants.
The building will be located on the corner of Św. Mikołaja and Nowy Świat, where in the years 1909-1982 stood one of the oldest cinemas in Wrocław, since 1955 known as “Pokój”. The building was pulled down in 1999 and according to the initial plans, it was to be replaced by a multiplex. However, there were difficulties with finding the investor and the project was withdrawn after the “Helios” cinema was open.
The new project is aiming to construct a 24 metres high office block with a single storey underground parking lot. The ground floor will house customer service, while the remianing floors will be used as office space. The construction is planned to commence this year and to last 12-18 months.
The authors of the winning project were awarded 40.000 PLN. According to the jury members, other contestants submitted interesting projects although some of them could not be accepted for this particular location.
