The Red Dot Award 2015, which is granted by Design Zentrum Nordrgein Westfalen, is one of the most prestigious award in the world of design. It is perceived as an honoring of a special pattern-designing and the highest quality product. The prize is awarded in three categories of products’ design, pattern-designing concerning means of transport and pattern-designing of projects.
The Embrace project is characterized by smooth curves and soft geometry. Its construction is supposed to express simplicity and stability. Embrace and Stefan Brodeck, a German designer responsible for the project, have received a lot of international awards in the area of design so far. They also won iF Design Awards 2015 this year. I was really proud and happy when I heard that Embrace won the prize. Embrace is a great design and balance of functions which enables an active work at desk and supplementation of energy in a relaxing position – says Stefan Brodbeck.
The Materia brand, which constitutes a part of the Kinnarps Group, was appreciated for the innovative Frame and Clip furniture. Frame is a project which resembles a picture frame. In contrast to normal sitting furniture, the armchair has both sides and the top which surround a sitting person and separate them from the surroundings giving a feeling of own space. Frame was designed by Ola Giertz. Clip is a multifunctional piece of furniture which is perfect as a seat combining some functions of seats and desks. It was designed by Fredrik Mattson.
The Red Dot Award prizes will be presented during a festive gala on 29th June in Essen in Germany. The winning products will be exhibited in the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen after the ceremony. The Museum is very often visited by enthusiasts of design from all over the world who come here in search for inspiration and the newest industry trends.
