We were one of the first big developer players who actually believed in the potential of this city. At present, Łódź is a significant business location in the CEE region. What constitutes about strength of this place is not only a central location but also the people and great communication connections with the rest of Europe. Skanska is to build its new project, that is Brama Miasta vis a vis of the largest underground railway station in the country – Łódź Fabryczna. Even 4 thousand experts are to be hired in these two office buildings. Both structures will deliver ca. 40 000 sq. m of leasable space in total. The buildings will have 15 aboveground tiers in the highest points.
Medusa group is responsible for design of this investment. The elevation, which is covered with characteristic rust-coloured Corten, as well as brick-built patio will aesthetically refer to the factory tradition of Łódź.
Łódź is a multicultural and patchwork city which, similarly to the Silesian metropolis where I grew up and where I still live, needs new and attractive common areas, meeting places, open passages and squares for both inhabitants and transients. One of such places is the new investment Brama Łodzi, since Łódź, as I believe, does not need glass houses these days. Brama Miasta is to be an example of broad thinking about the city, its future users and new employees. Architecture of this building is to be simple and timeless, with the use of Corten, which is a modern material whose taint refers to brick – the architectural ancestry of Łódź – says Przemo Łukasik, Architect of interdisciplinary medusa group architectural studio.
