ECO One hour with the lights turned off

23 March lights in millions of buildings were turned off during Earth Hour

CBRE, the global real estate audit company, joined Earth Hour, the worldwide event organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and held towards the end of March annually. Over 3,5 million employees who lease in total of 62 million sq m of commercial space managed by the CBRE took part in environmental initiative Earth Hour.

"As the global leader in the management of commercial estates, with over 37 thousand employees around the world, CBRE is in a perfect position to support Earth Hour in its actions for increasing the environmental awareness. Our participation in Earth Hour enhances the CBRE's engagement in environmental protection and proves that our Clients, employees, and tenants in all estates managed by us, unite with each other around the world to fight against climate changes," commented Mike Strong, the President of CBRE in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

This year's Earth Hour edition was held on 23 March between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm of a local time of a particular place in the whole world. This is the biggest event of such kind in the world and consists in symbolic turning off of lights for one hour in order to decrease dangers connected with climate changes. The Earth Hour event has been 9 years in the making since 2007. Since then, CBRE  has participated in this event very actively; for example, the company encouraged its tenants from both Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific to take part in Earth Hour.

In Poland the event is supported by such celebrities as Kora, Kinga Rusin, Agnieszka Szulim, Michał Piróg, Piotr Najsztub, Kasia Tusk and Martyna Wojciechowska.
