A ceremonial opening of a new headquarters of Wipro IT Services located in the Alchemia complex was held on 11th February. The company has occupied 2500 sq. m within the second stage of the investment in Gdańsk, i.e. in the Ferrum tower. Wipro considers the investment in Gdańsk as a strategic point in the development perspective of the organization in Central Europe. We are realizing an ambitious plan which will allow us to provide attractive and stable work places for both graduates and more experienced people – said Jacek Fijałkowski, Managing Director in Poland.
It is very good information for our region that such a dynamically developing company as Wipro considers Poland – especially Tricity – as a strategic area for its further development. The growth planned in the nearest years shows big economic potential of Pomerania – said Ryszard Świlski, Vice-Marshall in Pomerania Voivodship.
Wipro IT Services Poland is a part of Wipro Ltd., a global concern which operates in IT technologies, business services and consulting. There are more than 160 000 employees hired in the company all over the world servicing over 1000 customers. Wipro has been operating on the domestic market since 2008 and it owns 2 centers situated in Warsaw and Gdańsk. Moreover, the company conducts its business activity in other places – directly in the headquarters of clients. At present, 150 people work in the center in Gdańsk. However, the representatives of Wipro announced a dynamic development of the organization on the domestic market within the nearest years. The employment in the headquarters in Gdańsk is about to increase by 200 employees this year. Furthermore, the company will also double increase the office area which is rented right now (from 2500 sq. m to 5000 sq. m).
I am very glad about the further development of Wipro in Gdańsk. The presence of the investment confirms that Gdańsk and the whole region offer beneficial conditions for running a business activity in the IT and BPO sectors. Besides, the investor offers an interesting career path for young people and experts from our region – said Andrzej Bojanowski, Deputy President of Gdańsk.
Work places in the company will be provided to graduates from different fields of study and specializations (e.g. accounting, finances, IT and customer service) who know foreign – mainly European – languages. Wipro is looking for more experienced people who will participate in more advanced business projects. Furthermore, the company is planning to launch Wipro Academy this year. It will be a project allowing to increase professional competence as well as enable career in its surrounding and operating area.
Second stage of Alchemia is composed of two office towers (Ferrum and Titanium) located on both four-tier bases. The group of tenants includes such companies as State Street and Alexander Mann Solutions. At present, works at realization of the third stage, which will offer almost 36 000 sq. m of office space and nearly 3000 sq. m of space dedicated to accompanying services, are being conducted. The completion of the building is planned on the third quarter of 2017.
