Located at Al. Jana Pawła II Mercure Hotel will receive guests until 15th December. Building which would have had 19th birthday in February 2012 will be demolished, and skyscraper will be built in its spot - quotes "Gazeta Wyborcza".
The end of hotel's business is connected with taking over the property by Echo Investment company. Investor plans a demolitions as soon as possible and building 155 m high office on a parcel, which will be designed by Architecture Studio Kuryłowicz & Associates. Construction of so high structure in the city centre is possible - Echo received a land development conditions decision from the Town Hall.
Project of the Mercure was done in a studio of Polish designer Juliusz Rouba. Expansion of Warsaw's business centre caused that a low building was soon covered by skyscrapers. Competitiveness of the hotel was decreased by building of two times higher Westin Hotel, which was built at the other side of al. Jana Pawła II.
