The competition is targeted at architects, designers and artists, who have to provoke a creative perception of the city as a common area of all citizens by creating a concept of Warsaw of the future. The competition is open for the participants from all over the world. They will present their projects, and the best one of them will be chosen in terms of architecture, town planning and art in public space. The projects can be either those ready for implementation, which can become a part of the city very soon, or futuristic, innovative, or even utopian ones.
In the first edition of the competition, the projects were presented not only by the biggest Polish design studios, but also by the foreign and Polish artists, creators, students and amateurs. FUTUWAWA opens a window on perceiving the city as the field of unbounded experiment. It is a collection of projects, which are often complementary, but often do they change or even burst the city. In the last year’s edition, Warsaw of the future was designed by: the biggest Polish design studios and artists (e. g. Centrala, Kuryłowicz & Associates, Marek Budzyński Architect, Jarosław Kozakiewicz), the creators of architecture and art from all over the world (e.g. ALA Architects, Christian Kerez, Gregor Graf), as well as the young generation of students and graduates. This year, we wait for the next innovative and brave concepts, which will broaden our perception of the city – said Magda Grabowska and Aleksandra Litorowicz from Puszka Foundation.
The entries will be presented on futuwawa.pl. Main sponsor of the competition is Ghelamco company. We think about Warsaw in future terms and we want to contribute to its development – that’s why we support such enterprises as FUTUWAWA. Besides, its idea is very close to our company’s philosophy. We have been working in accordance with sustainable construction rules for a long time, and one of its bases is sustainable development of the cities – Jeroen van der Troolen informed us, Ghelamco’s Managing Director on Central and Eastern Europe
The projects can be sent till August 15, voting of both Jury and the Internauts will last till September 15, and the winners will be announced on October, 15.
