Bees play a crucial role in human life. They do not only produce honey but they are also an essential part of the pollinating process that includes many species of plants. Unfortunately, they are threatened by some human activities. Industrial breeding involves pesticides which lead to evanishing of these precious insects.
Even seemingly small-scale actions do matter in rescuing bees. It is worth buying products from organic farms or home apiaries, whose owners do not use harmful pesticides. The Forbo Flooring Department in Poland supports natural breeding run by people with a real passion. The company owns hives as a hobby, which are managed by the employees of Forbo: Krzysztof Tokajuk and Sylwester Moruś. The apiaries are situated on the area of the Narew National Park (15 hives) and the Pilica Valley (8 hives). The honey produced in the apiaries is delivered to customers of Forbo Flooring Poland. In times of the industrial production of honey, the company lays emphasis on breeding with bees evolving properly and producing honey which is the valuable gift of nature.
An average Polish beekeeper is mostly an enthusiast who truly loves bees. Their work and financial outlays are not that important. Bees are the beginning. When you have them, you start to pay attention to things that grow in the surroundings of your apiary. You observe the year-long vegetation and flowering of plants. When there is a lack of something, you plant it. You plant flowers, thriving shrubs, trees: on fallow lands, at ditches, on balks. Personally, I always keep seeds in my pockets and scatter them wherever I walk and thus the areas of my apiary are becoming more and more beautiful – says Krzysztof Tokajuk.
