Eduardo Souto de Moura was awarded with the most important award in the field of architecture.

Among the well known creation of this architect are: the stadium in Braga, which looks as if it was growing straight from the hill, a project of conversion of Santa Maria do Bouro, XII-century monastery turned into a hotel or Burgo Tower – a complex of two office buildings, with slightly thickset proportions contradicts the traditional slenderness and lightness of sky-raisers.

The jury of the most prestigious architectural award in the world justified their choice saying: Eduardo Souto de Moura is being awarded with this prize for a serene and simple architecture, which leaves an impression of an effortless erection (…) and it conducts emotions, like poetry, for those who find for it time. Jury appreciated the architect for the fact that he does not adjust his projects to fit the surroundings, no matter what, but attempts to enter a dialogue with the vicinity. In addition, De Mour was acknowledged for a unique interpretation of the country.

Currently, the architect is preparing works for two competitions in Switzerland, finishes designs of laboratories in Basel, a crematorium in Belgium, a two-storey building in Bordeaux as well as underground station in Naples.
