Another well-known investment bank will have its office in Warsaw. According to parkiet.com, the head of the office will be Artur Tomala, who was previously responsible for counseling on Polish capital market. Goldman Sachs will also be represented by Mirosław Urbański, who will become a counselor on financing and Marek Raczko, bank economist. The company also plans to hire analysts.
What encouraged Goldman Sachs authorities to open an office in Warsaw was most of all the development of GPW and growing scale of privatization transactions, fusions and takeovers on Polish market. Additionally, the reinforcement of capital market with strong participation of individual investors and the development of business and contacts with clients was the decisive factor.
Goldman Sachs will counsel to both Polish and foreign investors. The company is known for e. g. conducting counseling activities for polish Energy Group, PZU, GPW, or Raiffeisen. Goldman Sachs is a dealer of government bonds – it has got the ability to purchase governmental obligations directly on auctions organized by Ministry of Finance.
