The assembly of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) representatives was held in the Ministry of Economy on 26 August. The main subjects of the convention were incentives for entrepreneurs who invest in Poland.

During the meeting, duty premier Janusz Piechociński said that among countries of the East-Central Europe, Poland constitutes the best location for investors from all over the world. Within last few years, Poland became one of the most attractive countries to invest in. We are the European centre of BPO investment – noted duty premier Janusz Piechociński.

 

The head of the Ministry of Economy reminded that 107 new investments came to Poland, thanks to which we found ourselves in the top ten of the European countries considering this category. Among assets of the Polish market, the minister for the economy drew his attention to the economic and political stability of our country, large domestic market and well-educated personnel, including the greatest number of graduates of computer specializations in Europe – informed the Ministry of Economy. Janusz Piechociński told us about the functionality of a public aid, on which foreign entrepreneurs may count in Poland. One of the possibilities is to allocate investments in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ, which offers i.a. attractive tax reliefs, facilitation in employment and well prepared areas – said deputy premier.

 

According to the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency, during the meeting the agency described its own organizational structure, talked about functionality of the public aid offered to investors and presented projects which are being realized. Poland exchanges its experience eagerly, mainly with developing countries. We have created special places – such as special economic zones, we prepared dedicated programs – Go China and Go Africa. These are directions in which investments should follow – commented Anna Polak-Kocińska.

 

In the meeting of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies took part heads of the investment agencies from Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, RPA, Lesotho and representatives of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency, including the board member Anna Polak-Kocińska.

 

WAIPA (World Association of Investment and Promotion Agencies) is a non-governmental organization founded in 1995, which consociates 244 countries and regional investment and promotional agencies from 162 countries in order to promote the cooperation between agencies.
