A manufacturing and office centre, worth more than PLN 150 million, which i.a. is to house the production of tobacco for roll-your-own cigarettes, wil be constructed in the capital of Małopolska Voivodeship. Simultaneously, Philip Morris Poland announces plans to create 700 new posts over the next few years, along with achieving full production capacity. The new centre is to be built by mid-2014. Currently, the company employs in Poland nearly 3 000 people and until now has invested over PLN 1,5 billion.
I am really glad that Philip Morris International (PMI) has chosen Kraków to implement their new investment, which will strengthen our position in Poland and our competitiveness in the European market. This decision was made due to fast development of the company in Poland. In the last decade, our production in Kraków increased from 30 billion to more than 50 billion cigarettes per year and is still increasing. Currently, about 70 per cent of production is destined for exports – comments Olek Grzesiak, Managing Director Philip Morris in Poland and Baltic States.
Choosing Kraków resulted from high efficiency of the exisitng factory, its competitiveness, as well as the presence of highly qualified engineers, technicians and machine operators.
I am proud of our centre being chosen for this new, big investment. The centre's development will allow increasing our production capacity by 30 per cent and creating new posts – says Marek Kalinowski, Director Operations.
The investment will be carried out with the use of modern technologies, equipment and technological solutions, which will minimise any potential negative influence on the local environement and community.
