According to naszemiasto.pl located by Rondo Grunwaldzkie Centrum Kongresowe is going to be built by Budimex Warszawa and Ferrovial Agroman from Madrit. The offer was selected as the best one – according city officials’ calculations the cost estimations presented by contractors was lower by 28 M. and amounted to 317 M. PLN. gross.
From 19 companies that took part in the tender only five bids were selected to the final. Two of them were automatically excluded on the grounds of their price being higher than the sum reserved in the city’s budget for the investment. President of the public procurement authority must check the result and the correctness of the procedure.
Warbud have completed the process of erection of cavity walls, which are to protect the building against the pressure of groundwater. After completion of preparation works estimated at 7.5 M., PLN. the constructions works can now be commenced. Centrum is going to be composed of three congress halls, which, if necessary, can be altered into exhibition and market space. A three level foyer overlooking Vistula and Wawel will supplement the building.
Part of the investment funds (80 M. PLN.) was acquired by the city from EU resources. Controversies regarding the winning bid are arising from the problems that accompanied the erection works of Wisła Kraków stadium. The authorities affirm that there is no danger of unexpected expenditures – the contractor will receive payment in form of the lump sum.
